Use the Product Variants tab in Shop configurations to control how child products inherit data from their parent. The same tab also controls how variants are presented in the catalog and on the product page.
Steps
In the navigation, select Shop configurations.
On the Shop configuration page, select the Product Variants tab. The Product Variants tab opens.
Under Child attributes, choose Parent, Own, or Both. This setting decides which attributes apply to variant (child) products. Parent inherits the parent's attributes, Own uses attributes defined on the child, and Both combines them.
Under Child packages, choose Parent or Own. Parent uses the parent's packages for child products, and Own uses packages defined on the child.
Under Child prices, choose Parent or Own. Parent uses the parent's prices for child products, and Own uses prices defined on the child.
Under Default variant, choose Yes or No. Yes designates one child product as the default selection for its parent, and No leaves no default.
Under Preselect variant, choose Yes or No. Yes highlights a child product when the parent page loads. No leaves the variant unselected on initial load.
Under Show variant price, choose Yes or No. Yes shows the default child product's price and an add-to-cart action on product list cards. No requires the customer to select options before a price or add-to-cart action appears.
Select Save. Save is disabled when the tab first opens.
